Talk Abstract:: Emissions reduction and faith in a massive explosion of decarbonisation technologies has driven national and global climate action politics since Kyoto. The increasing occurrence of extreme and variable weather events and the recent energy crisis have caused alarm bells to ring across the minds of many. However, how do we manage this decarbonisation journey? What are the overlooked challenges across the three pillars of sustainability? This lecture provides a personal perspective of the challenges we face, as well as a critique of some of the virtue signalling, poker playing and indulgences offered up to mitigate against climate change.
